How long have you been teaching and practicing yoga?

Teaching now for 6+ years and practicing for nearly 18 years.

What brought you to yoga?

I had an injury and could not do my usual gym classes, so thought I would try a yoga class. Well, I floated out of the 1st one!!

Then added 1 yoga class per week to my routine for a couple of months; started to notice how it filtered into the rest of my life especially reducing stress & tension at work and also my personal life, so added more yoga!

What is one thing you love to share with students?

To come back to themselves when they come to the practice and their mat; and to give themselves grace because I feel we are all way too hard on ourselves!

What style do you love to teach and why?

Vinyasa – because moving is a tonic to my spirit and helps to release stuck tension and emotions, and it is a great balance between energy, strength and flexibility and is so empowering. And I equally love Yin – for me it is the perfect practice to use for self-reflection and meditation, and I love to offer that in my Yin classes.

What is your favourite pose?

Seriously? You can’t ask a yoga teacher this!!!  I have so many!

I love to feel energised, so heart opening postures (back bends) are favourites for sure fe. Bridge (Setu Bandha Sarvangasana); Wheel (Urdhva Dhanurasana), and Wild Thing (Camatkarasana) and any variations of those. I also love a reclining Hero (Supta Virasana) over a bolster; and modified Fish pose over a bolster as well! I love a Side-plank (Vasisthasana) and variations; and seated forward fold (Paschimottanasana) and Yogi Squat (Malasana).

A little bit about yourself:

I am not a morning person; and no, yoga teaching has not changed that!

I have difficulty getting to events or appointments on time.  I love nature and big open landscapes; I love clouds and will often stand and look up to the sky and comment on the colour and form…  I love art & design; music and to dance; going to the gym. I love connection with people, perhaps that is why I love teaching yoga so much!

I love food; but am a terrible cook. I love chocolate, and cuddles with our Maltese doggie, Leo.
