How long have you been teaching and practicing yoga?
Since the womb! My mother began practicing yoga when she was pregnant with me over 40 years ago. I began practicing myself more intensely and with more devotion in my 20’s and completed my yoga teacher training during this time. I am a senior yoga teacher registered with Yoga Australia with over 10 years of training and experience.
What brought you to yoga?
I was born into the practice (both my parents are currently yoga teachers). On a personal level, I became more interested and called to yoga in my 20’s upon completing my Health Science Degree in Musculoskeletal Therapy and Kinesiology studies. Interested in healing myself, I found such profound insight, peace and health through the practice of yoga, I felt called to share this with all who came across my path and asked.
What is one thing you love to share with students?
I can’t list just one thing! I love to share embodied movement, philosophy and kirtan (song).
What style do you love to teach and why?
I love teaching all classes! But I especially love teaching slow flow and embodied vinyasa with inclusive alignment cues for the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual body AND restorative yoga for self-care and deep rest in our inner most being.
What is your favourite pose?
At the moment I absolutely love Sukhasana (easy seat) propped on a bolster so I feel like I am floating.
A little bit about yourself:
I’ve always been interested in helping others and fascinated by the incredible workings of the human body. After leaving school, I studied Chiropractic, Musculoskeletal Therapy and Kinesiology, driven by a desire to understand the body and support others on their path to greater wellbeing.
In my search for a way to help people experience longer-lasting peace and happiness within their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies, I found yoga.
Through living the yogic lifestyle, I bring my love and joy of yoga into every class I teach. It is an honour to share the ancient teachings of this sacred science, with a focus on releasing tension and restlessness from the body so that we can move towards stillness and reconnect with our essential nature.
I see each yoga pose as an opportunity to practice self-acceptance and fully experience the present moment. Through the breath, we create space for greater peace within the body and mind.
My classes offer a strong foundation in breath, intention setting, safe structural alignment, exploring the edge between strength and flexibility, inner listening, presence, smooth transitions, moving into stillness and self-love. Classes conclude with meditation, and often with the beautiful practice of chanting ancient yogic scriptures.
As a holistic therapist, I see no part of our being as separate from another. I allow space for deeper energetic insights to arise organically, responding to what is present within the group on the day.
My intention is for you to leave each class feeling uplifted, radiant, connected and at peace.
